Found some time for a little beach detecting with the Nox, so I drove down the coast to try a new spot. I spent a few hours in the dry sand and was surprised how few targets I was getting. After a couple hours only had about $2 in clad, but what was odd was the lack of bottle caps, trash and aluminum. Then I saw what the problem was....The Rockland Beach King! I watched this guy maneuver his trash eating machine around all the sunbathers, covering hundreds of yards in minutes. Although I did not get a glimpse into the device it appeared to be raking and sifting sand a good 6" deep. I checked out the area he had cleaned and found nothing in the spots he went over. This might be the ultimate beach treasure hunting device! Unfortunately it is either covering up targets or sifting them out. I have to wonder how much good stuff they find in the hopper at the end of the day. Does anyone know about these machines and are they able to sift out small items like coins and rings?
I did know one thing, The Beach King is not able to cover the area near the waterline so as the tide moved out I hit the trough which thankfully gave up a nice .925 ring, so it was not a total bust of a trip.
