Dug these flattened bullets at a CW fort site. I have read they were sometimes used for poker chips.

And at the same fort I dug this compass, you can still see some of the directions yet. The fort area had been a military site then later became a ranch, never having been anything else to this day so I'm sure the compass dates back to then. Also dug some eagle buttons & a few 54 Sharps in the immediate area. Steve in so az

Interesting piece. Can you tell if it might also have acted as a watch winder. I found a simelar piece at a C W camp site years ago that I know is a winder, but could never tell what the circle was for. Because of your post, I must now look for it in my whatsit bucket.

Steve, is that compass also a watch winder I can't tell the size of it, but years ago, I found a watch winder like that in a CW camp. I couldn't trll that there might have been a compass in the round part. Now I must go dig it out of my whatsit bucket.

Can't provide any info on them, but sure do think finds from "way back when" are intriguing.

The end is packed with stuff - dont want to harm it but it does appear to be hollow. On a relic forum a guy said right away it was a winder also, like you. Thanks, Steve
