For all of you Xl Pro people out there and I am one of you, I had a chance to hunt a place called Preston Castle. It was built in 1890. And it was a place where kids and teens that broke the law were sent to work off there crime.
Not a prison...anyway I had a connection to get into the grounds that are locked and the city police drive by the grounds to check for Vandals every hour. I had a free pass and hunted for six hours. I found so many great finds.
From Silver Dollars, Half Dollars, Quarters, Dimes, and Wheat's including three Steel Wheat's. I found Buttons and a Troy Bar of Silver, a 1927 Two Dollar Bill and a 1957 Silver Certificate One Dollar Bill. This was in a rusted tin. I found nickels from the 1940-1950 including a Buffalo.
I took my Fisher and Whites and they were going crazy from the iron in the ground so I took out the compass in auto ground bal and thought my last chance to live or die. And Bam it was hitting targets like there was no tomorrow. I just watched the meter and dug the good readings and came out with a lot of cool things.
I never really understood masking till I saw Nasa Tom's DVD. I read a lot about it and ran into a lot of hunts that made me and my other detectors go crazy.
This is the first time I had control and could cherry pick the good targets and then dig the foil targets. In relic hunting the junk targets are not pull tabs and foil but copper and iron and all sorts of cool stuff. So it is a different world when relic hunting.
I know the T2 is a great relic detector since Old Cal...Paul is an expert in relic hunting and has one and loves it. And I know there are other detectors that do a great job, I just couldn't believe how the compass would find iron and silver in the same hole. Or I would slow down and I could see the needle respond to the multy targets one by one. This is one fast machine
I love my fisher and White's for parks and schools and I am hoping that the T2 is the first of many new detector that are using what worked thirty years ago but advanced it to todays technology.
I broke my camera so I did't get photos of the castle grounds or my finds but I have a new camera coming and I will take photos to post in a few weeks.
