Can someone who may have used both a white MXT and a Garrett Gti 2500 give me a comparison? We have used the garrett and are considering a new machine, most likely a MXT because of several issues and would like to know how they compare on depth, speed ect if you will.
Thanks much
Grumpy

An elderly member of my club had a 2500 and he sold it and got an ,mxt. It seems like all the buttons and programming were too much for him to comprehend. I am not knocking the 2500 it is a great machine, but the MXT is very simple to use. It is a matter of choice, programming buttons or dials.
good luck on whatever one you choose.

You just ask this question on the 14th of this month but it was with the Minelab. I think you really want the MXT {which is one darn good machine} But you want someone to talk you out of it, just break down and buy the Whites MXT you will not regret it.:whites::thumbup: That way you wont have to compare it to the Fisher or the Bounty Hunter:rofl: Because on this site MXT rules, and you will love the detector if you get it!:clapping:

Yes Bob; But no Bob Im not going to ask about the fisher or any others. I have two minelabs a GT sov. and A Exp SE. The problem is I am trying to learn what a MXT is like ; I have a great interest in getting one because of the Problems with the two minelabs I have been having . Mostly in getting them fixed. Seems the new company has gone to lunch and forgot to notice who paid for the lunch. Tech and repair is shall we say not what it used to be. I dont think its the employees I think it is the shortage of employees to handle the workload.
We had a Gti 2500 and a garrett 250 in the past. Really liked the 2500 tho the buttons did stick once in a while ( they fixed it in very short order) and it did not go as deep as the minelabs but it was faster to move with. Problem with the garrett 2500 was the battery set up. It uses two stick holders and they brake and they brake which is mostly ok because they were cheap but they also take std. aa batteries which are not as cheap or convient as recharge packs.
The White MXT I understand from asking people everwhere is a very good machine . comes with a rechargeable batt. and has a lot of coils avaliable. Uses knobs for adj like the sovg Gt and I think someone said it even had good sounds.
O Im not trying to get anyone to talk me out of buying a white mxt. I could just listen to the wife for that one :) I just want to make sure when I spend that much it is what I think it is going to be. Like the se 1200 $ but worth it when it was working. :(
Which brings me to another question if you dont mind and I know you are a MXT lover. This is very good. What are the overall track records for haveing the Mxt brake down.?? Do they seem to hold up and require very little repairs or not. The Se or at least ours seems to have a very bad case of home sick. Likes to go se mommy way to often. Could just be my machine or using it to much?
Thanks for the feedback bob I hope I did not anoy you it was not my intent I just wanted to hear from people like yourself that knows the machine for a referance.
Thanks much. Seems like a great site too. " Where in Oklahoma? Know where Eldorado Ok is?"

Hey Grumpy, I live in Muskogee and I was just pulling your chain on the Fisher and Bounty Hunter. As far as the MXT holding up I use my almost every day throw it in the back of my truck, don't really try to tear it up but I am hard on it have had it for a couple years now and never had a bit of trouble out of it {knock on wood} I also have the GMT had it for over 6 years put it through H---L and back prospecting in California and Arizona have never had a problem with it dropped it off my 4X4 ATV a few times still works very well. You can't go wrong with Whites made in the good old USA they are always ready to give A # 1 service. I personally would not own another detector but a Whites. and KellyCo will give you the best price out there. But you aren't bothering anyone by asking questions. Like I said I was just pulling your chain.:usaflag::whites::thumbup:

Eldorado, yes I know were that is in the south west corner of the state. You know you have placer gold deposits in that area,they are found in many of the streams and rivers draining the southwestern corner of the state including: The headwaters of Otter Creek, Tillman and Jackson Counties; the North Fork of the Red River, Greer and Jackson Counties; Middle Otter Creek, 4 miles southeast of Roosevelt, Kiowa County; numerous other creeks and drainage in Comanche, Greer, Jackson,Kiowa and Tillman Counties. I get down that way 3 to 4 times a year to prospect. I hope this might help you out. and the MXT with the 6 X 10 DD coil is one great gold getter, MXT + 6 X 10 DD = GMT :thumbup:

Bob ;
Thanks for the info;
Were in COLORADO on the arkansas river between canon and salida but my family came from Eldorado and Quanah tx. Been over the Red River there a million times growing up. Never thought there was gold in those snake infested brakes tho?? Live and learn.
We have a little gold activity here along the river but I never got into the gold end of it just metal detecting. Would really like to dredge a spot or two around home here but time and work hold me back. Actually to many hobbies and toys to play with to get it all done. :)
You hunt those old river bottoms with a MXT or what method of gold hunting do you do around the red river? In the cool of winter I would hope. I hate those diamond backs! They joke about the things growing bigger in Texas well maybe its a joke but the snakes get to big for me.:)
Take care and thanks for the input we will definately give a MXT a try if things dont get turned around PDQ on the minelab problem. Im not happy without a good working metal detector.
Good Luck
Grumpy

Your still living in good gold country, I get up that way and prospect once a year the head waters of the Arkanasa river holds alot of fine gold. I use a sluice box when I am up there The North Tallahassee Creek holds good gold deposits also.:thumbup:
