Comparing the SR & ML.......

8" coils, what do you perceive to be the advantage/disavantage of using one or the other.
I have both and my own thoughts about each one. I just wondered what others thought. I hunt some of the worst soil (soil has been tested and confirmed as being real tough to hunt) and the most trashy areas around. I'm wearing my Explorer middle rod and coil connector out changing coils, so would like some honest opinions.
Thanks in advance.

Ty, I really havent used my Minelad 8 inch much. Mainly because of the weight difference I suppose and the bit of an edge on coverage.. I know when I did use it at the begining that it seemed to have a slight edge in iron for some reason, maybe a bit more sensitive to iron as well, could be why I thought so.. the SR seems more stable. I took the ML out to one of my sites after hunting it with the 10 and sr8 quite a few times and found 7 indian heads with the ml in spots gone over fairly well. all in high iron, but as you know that doesnt mean much as I also have gone back since with the X8 and got more too, so it could be just a matter of hitting them from the right angle or something. However a buddy was there with the X8 while I was using the ML and checked a couple signals and couldnt lock on like I could, but again even when we are using the same coils his never seemed to lock on like mine and he may have a bit of a performance problem with his, he has since gotten another explorer and he thinks its running hotter. Anyway I guess my answer doesnt tell you much, and right now my ML I let another buddy borrow so cant do more comparing for a while.. one thing that does seem to hold up though is each coil seems to have some sort of advantage over the others and it cant hurt to use each one at each site....Jim
