Comparing nickels to pennys and dimes and ID ability

Doing test at different depths in my coin garden, I've noticed how the Explorer ID's some coins better than others. For example, at 6" the Explorer has no problem with the correct lock and ID on Dimes, Pennys and Quarters. But, for reasons I don't understand has great diffuculty ID'ing the nickels. At 6" the nickel will not lock and ID. It will bounce all over the screen. The Explorer seems to also detect the Dimes, Pennys and Quarters deeper than the Nickle. I can still detect and ID a dime at 8" with some bouncing around. But, it still once during this bouncing lock and ID the dime correctly. Not so with the Nickel at 8".

Is there something wrong with my machine and Nickels? Or do you also find this is the Norm?Maybe it's the composition the Nickel is made of. I know some machines are better ID'ing Nickels than others.
