I picked up a 5x8 DD coil installed it and gave it a test run on the AT Pro and it worked like a champ just like everyone says. In the process I decided to compare my 3 sets of headphones against each other as well on the AT Pro. I compared a pair of Killer Bee's, a pair off Rat Phones no longer available and a pair of Koss QZ99 noise reduction phones. Well the outcome to my surprise in order was I liked the Koss QZ99 noise reduction phones best just about a tie with the Rat Phones followed by the Killer Bee's. It surprised me I liked the Killer Bee's the least out of the three sets tried also surprised me that the Koss QZ99 noise reduction phones worked so well on the AT Pro with a good solid high tone and a rich full mid low tone on targets followed by the Rat Phones being very much the same way over all in sound as the Koss. I do like the noise reduction of the Koss QZ99 phones they are rated and recommended for detectors and built like a tank great quality lifetime warranty as well like the others except for Rat Phones being out of business.
The big plus is I got the Koss QZ99 noise reduction phones on amazon for $39.00. I have seen them for $90.00 to a $100.00 on detector vendor sights like Kellyco over the years. The big deal here for me is they were a 1/4 the cost of the Killer Bee's and Rat Phones and work great, fit great and really keep the noise out I bet they would great on the beach to keep the surf noise out when detecting. I am going to take them on vacation to the beach next month and test that theory out for sure.
The only con I see with the Koss QZ 99 phones is they do not fold up like the others mentioned, also the cord is a little longer it's a coiled 8ft instead of the standard coiled 6ft cord on most detector phones. Some may not care for the extra length but with the Garrett plug in adapter at the back of the arm cuff it worked just fine for me were as on my Fisher Gold Bug DP they plug into the control box on the left side and on that detector I like the 6ft coiled cord a little better.
