Company or solo

which do you prefer? solo or detecting with someone?

It seems that with someone you have a chance to run different machines at different frequencies and more thoroughly scan an area completely.... But I still prefer to roll solo. what do you all prefer?

Much prefer too detect by myself,i do occasionally go on club digs or rallies, but just enjoy the solitude it gives me,as soon as those headphones go on then all i am focused on is that coil and what its telling me through my headphones. Then when i find a celtic gold stater you wont embarrass yourself when you do the stupid gold dance.

the majority of my huntting is solo because I have access to some large tracts and like to cover some ground exploring. I do enjoy detecting with friends though. It is nice to be able to compare signals with different machines. Listening to three machines on a target, everybody gives there thoughts and predictions, and bam.....it's another pull tab. Lol........Dig It All.....Noah

Not even close, much rather hunt with someone else. It's exciting to find a potential target, call your buddy over, have them check the target before you dig and then dig. Also the chances are better of finding good targets when more than one is hunting.

Prefer to hunt with buddies. Not so much for proper md'ing coverage (of competing brands/types machines), but simply for the camaraderie.

There is better security when hunting with others, but I often solo hunt just because that's how it works out.

I have a couple of buddies I enjoy hunting with, but solo works, too. In fact, since I'm retired and hunt almost every day, I hunt solo more often then not. HH jim tn

Solo here unless someone turns me on to some productive ground.
Seem to be able to concentrate better solo versus a hurried competition which always turns out that way.

would really enjoy an English speaking hunting partner.. but the fact is where I live every single 1 of them won't think twice about stabbing another in the back

I hunt by myself most of the time because not many others around me do this and it is sort of a relaxing Zen kind of thing with me.
Just me and the outdoors, nice weather, the tones and numbers...all my cares and troubles fade away.

Hunting with others is also fun when I get the chance, my MD club in Kansas had all their spring, summer and fall meetings at different outdoor sites where many of us hunted for a few hours together and that was a blast.
On one we were all hunting in a public park and we had a few guests that were considering joining.
One didn't even have a detector yet and he was following a few of us around watching what we did.
He walked around with me for a few minutes and I was explaining what the sounds and numbers on my F2 were telling me as I swung over targets.
The first one I got was a tab signal and I told him this was probably a tab and when I bent over and dug one he seemed impressed.
The next signal was a solid 82.
I looked at him and said "See this right here...this is probably going to be a quarter", and when I dug up a quarter and showed it to him he looked at me like I was a God.
I couldn't stop laughing at that reaction.

I do hunt with friends from time to time, great fun comparing what we find.
Once I was hunting with a good friend and the second signal I got I dug up a huge 18 gram gold class ring, the first and biggest one I ever found.
We hunted together for several more hours that day at a couple of different sites but I was a mess that whole time and I couldn't concentrate on much of anything.
I did have great joy walking over to him about a dozen times throughout the day and waved that thing in front of his face laughing like a maniac rubbing it in like crazy.
Hunting with good friends...nothing better.

Hi Herb, I solo hunted for many years mostly because starting in 69 there just were not many diggers around. I usually hunted isolated forestry roads and deep woods . In time I brought a friend or two or three into the hobby and we made lasting bonds over the years. That pays off when you reach the age of really needing a friend at your side, especially when detecting some of the various type places most all of us detect. Those friends are the most valued treasures I have discovered over all my digging years. You know you have come full circle with your Digging Buddies when any one of you enjoy seeing your buddy dig a real sweet goodie as much as if you dug it yourself. That's so cool and a Blessing if there ever was such! HH , Charlie

I have 2 buddies that always go with me--Smith&Wesson--8x 357. I'm not belligerent nor a bully and would help Anyone in need, but I will never go easy.

I hunt solo all the time. But last fall I bought my son a detector so he can go with me on my adventures, he is looking forward to go with me this spring as I have lined up a few sweet spots. I think it will be a lot of fun when we get out. Like Tom in CA said, the camaraderie. :twodetecting:
