Compadre's first few minutes

I shoot a lot of videos with a Replay XD1080P in a headset mount. Easy to see what is going on from a better vantage point than a hand held camera. Here is the first few minutes with the Tesoro Cpmpadre yesterday, actually the hole right before finding the 1905 Barber dime. Hunting by sound rather than a screen suits me better. I had looked at the AT Pro from Garrett but it seemed like too much going on to really enjoy and investigate the hunt. Folks here recommended the Compadre and it seems like they were right. In the few hours I've had it working the darn thing performs well. It's a bit noisy at times but with the power lines around here and households with wireless I guess that's expected. It does not like my Pro Pointer on near it but again a minor issue since their working relationship is important. The depth is a surprise. Many targets get not a hint from the Pro Pointer until the hole is opened and the dig begins. It also can zero in on tiny stuff. I've been running the discrimination fairly high near the zinc penny setting since I'm living on a iron ore mine of trash. With the house at 130 years old this year the yard has decades of stuff from square nails to old car parts. This is a handy unit and well represented by the folks on this forum. Glad I joined in and paid attention. The service from Kellyco was outstanding more along the lines of later on today than next day and that was the free shipping. If I paid extra they might have provided a guide and digger for me to supervise. As simple as the Compadre is to use more time is spend recovering stuff than fiddling around looking for it, not bad. I'll keep posting and reading the information from other members. One thing I've noticed both here and at a few other sites is that the Tesoro users share more information and seem to use the site more. Hopefully later today the hunt will continue.

Glad you are enjoying it, I recommend lowering disc as close to iron as possible as to not miss any gold zinc is eliminating many good targets IMO Good Luck!

JMC thanks for sharing your video. The Tesoro Compadre will amaze. In the right conditions the Compadre will out perform most detectors that cost many times more than it does. Also it's a heck of a lot of fun to use.

nice vid looking to see more with the Compadre good work thanks

I am glad to hear the Tesoro style of hunting by tone only suits you. It sure does keep things simple. As you get more time in on it you will start to realize the minor differences in tones that reveal a lot. Starting with disc. high is what I always recommend. As your success grows and you lean more about the tone you can get a little braver and turn the disc down. Sounds like a Cibola, Vaq, or Tejon is in your future!

great video , keep in mind the pro pointer is 12khz the same as the Compadre, just mover the coil out of the way. you are finding some deep and nice stuff thanks for sharing it with us , as i am froze up hear Gunnar

Now that was a darn good movie. I am glad that you are getting out. Here in the north it is frozen. You are going to love that little detector.
It is so easy to use and light weight. Tell us what you think of that compared to a much higher priced detector... KEN

The users on this forum are very friendly and helpful and many, including me, have a Compadre in their stable regardless of what else they swing.
