Just got a new Compadre with 8" coil recently. Tried it out in the yard and the detector is very chirpy like the sensitivity is set too high.
I thought you already had a Compadre? ANY detector that relies a whole bunch on internal settings and/or lacks sufficient external control for a savvy operator, is very likely to run across interference or challenging ground environments often enough to cause the user some frustrations. That's why I personally favor a model with ample adjustment features. Not an excess amount of tweaking this and that, just the basics that can make it a more versatile, yet simple to use, detector.
The "chirpy" behavior could be caused by:
• EMI from a nearby source.
• Sensitivity that is set too high.
• An improper Ground Balance, especially if too negative for the ground mineral conditions.
• A defective detector.
• A defective, out-of-spec, search coil.
• Any combination of the above.

I hate to send a new detector back to Tesoro.
That's what the warranty is for.

Just wondering if turning the sense down a little might quieten it down?
Reducing the Sens. (Sensitivity) might help quiet (or a British term of quieten) the noise, but only where you are. Reducing it now could mean you don't have enough Sensitivity should you move to a different location that lacks EMI, which is one of the weaknesses of models like the overly-simple Compadre.

Anyone get a super sensitive Compadre new out of the box?
Yes, I had one or two come through back when I was a Tesoro Dealer and they came with the 7" Concentric coil, and I also had some wimpier specimens as well.

Just holding it up in the air away from any metal sources, it's still chirping away. Thanks for any help.
It still could be any of the problems listed, but EMI would be #1 and a too-high Sensitivity setting would be the 2nd thing to address.
