I have a compadre, it works flawlessly. I do notice if i bump the wire were it comes out of the coil , it makes a beep. other than that i have no problems. Is this normal. My 505 x-terra will not do this .

Thanks , I love the machine.

I use Velcro straps, got them from home depot, on all my detectors. I wrap the cable normally but then add the Velcro straps on the lower, at about 7 inches up, and upper shaft, about 6 inches down, to hold the cable more firmly. It's not a guarantee against a direct hit to the cable, but it does help.

Thanks. I've been wondering where I could get some.

Dear friends,

Another source is fabric stores, such as Hancock's and JoAnn's, where you can purchase small lengths or bulk on the roll. For bulk, I have found better prices at Sunshine Foam Rubber Company. Velcro also comes with an adhesive or sticky side. Regular Velcro (No sticky side.) is meant to be sewn onto fabric, such as Velcro-mounted window treatments.

As most of you know, Velcro has two mating straps.......one has wool and the other has tiny plastic hooks that grab into the wool firmly when pressed together, but can be pulled apart.

Hope this information is helpful. :)

I forgot to mention that Velcro comes in different colors, white, black and tan are the ones I've used.......there may be other colors I haven't seen.

Here are the Velcro straps I found at Home depot. Single strap design, cost effective, they work great.
