With such a simple detector, and the amazing finds made with it.The question is is there any type of soil that it will not do well in?Does it have its limitations where it will not do well?

Woodchuck,

I live in Central Florida and have never had a problem anywhere I have taken it, but our soil is pretty sandy and mild.

I have not taken it to the beach, but I would imagine it would be horrible in the wet salt sand.

I've heard it has some difficulty in bad soil, but the worst soil I found was like an iron ore rock site neath some swings and I just adjusted the disc down to about where the iron flakes in the soil would be sort of neutralized and found 4 nickels that I wasn't able to find in about 30 years of searching under those swings. They were about 3-4". I just kept adjusting downward in discrimination until I got the iron signals, then brought it back up a little.

works in hot arizona ground

It works really well in my area of West Tennessee.
