Compadre with 8" Coil

Has anyone tried the Compadre with one of the new 8" coils yet? I'm wondering how they compare with the 5.75" coil in actual field use.

I modded mine with a plug so I could use the coils I had for my outlaw. It worked fine with the 8" with the expected depth increases. I think I like the small coil best for the compadre. I really think the the reason so many people love the compadre is because of the small coil you are forced to use with it. Most people dont realize that coverage and depth arent everything, especially when working in parks and other trashy areas. The compadre finds so much small gold because it has a small coil. Look at VLF gold detectors and you will see that most people use small coils with great sucess. I know that I prefer the 4x6 shooter coil on my Gold master 2. I posted an air test on this forum compareing all my coils on the Compadre.

I modded mine into a wader unit with a 9x8 concentric and man it kills on small items in fresh water. I love it.

I agree with you on the 5.75 it just picks through the trash better than a bigger coil!!
