Compadre with 4" coil

SWMO Mark

New member
Has anyone tried putting the 4" coil on there compadre ? I was wanting to give this combo a try. Also wanted it to be the older compadre with the 120 ed discrimination. Thought it would be a killer in real trashy sites. And with the older 120 disc. it would be real queit. Mark

There was a post or two on one of the forums several or more years back where that had been done. Made a great detector for tight spots, nooks and crannies in abandoned houses and in extreme trash and the pinpointing was surgical. I use the 4" from time to time on my Tesoros (not Compadres) with good results when the conditions warrant a very small coil. It's certainly not a general use coil, but for what it is designed for it is a dandy and while not deep, it delivers good depth for its size.

Hi JB, that is my understanding also, but a year or so ago I did mention on this forum my having read or seen some things posted over several years concerning the Amigo II and a newer/older version Compadre. I don't remember particulars but it had to do with circuit boards, and even advertising descriptions of Compadres over the years. No one ever made any replies to my thoughts, so I have to think I was just confused and it all to be of no consecequence. I have a Plugged A 2 , a 4" coil, a 5.75 Compadre, and always have so much fun hunting with the 7" on the A II that I never think to try the 4"on it.The 4" is a great coil, and I found my oldest(cut) 1/2 of a 1/2 Real with it but it is a pain in the butt to use. Lol, maybe I will try the 4"on the A II some day. No big deal on any "differences" if there were any, and I sure hope I in no way caused anyone any confusion with last years mention of any.
