Compadre vrs eurotek pro

bkkd

New member
Merry Christmas all, has anybody compared the compadre with the eurotek pro?
Depth, recovery speed, quality, etc?
I have a compadre 8 inch and like it a lot and will not get rid of it, but I would like to have a spare/loaner for friends.
I do like the idea of hearing the iron in the ground when I hunt.
Just comparison, I am not brand blinded, and like offerings from many company's.
This eurotek pro would be the cheaper 8 inch coil model.
Thanks all

If I were adding to your 8" Compadre, I'd either add a 5.75" Compadre or jump up to a silver or at least one of the models that offers coil changes and sensitifvity adjustment. Don't know a thing about the Euro tek pro so can't compare that.

My vote is for the silver , Just to be able to change coils

Two completely different machines. I use my BH Lone Star Pro in trashy areas and my Compadre-my favorite detector- in other areas. The Compadre excels in finding gold-especially tiny gold. Few detectors beat it in this area.

Those teknetics you can hear the iron grunt in trashy areas...but it can be tricky to snag a high tone out of the rubble. Where a Tesoro keeps quite for the most part if the disc is left at foil, but you get some cracks and pops when u hit iron. I would say snag the teknetics it would be a good off set balance ...ying and yang to your treasure hunt arsonal. Both detectors will find it place. My thoughts are go with the 11" DD better separation and depth...the down fall is pinpointing could be a little tricky at first but you will get it...the 8" coil is a lot easier but depth and ground coverage is not as good
.

Well I actually own an ETP, and had a Compadre with 8" since 2009
(was available in this part of the Pond).

I sold the Compadre to help a friend back into MDing.

As soon as I got in the truck after I handled the Compadre to him, I regretted selling it.

Then I could buy an used Golden µMAX,and enjoy it a lot.

But I still miss the Compadre.

The ETP is another kind of detector. Despite having a lower frequency, it's reactive to small gold rings.

The iron feature is a big PLUS, but if you really want it to pick goodies in the dirt, you should not discriminate at all. I mean, you can make the iron silent (and still hunting in all metal), but DON'T discriminate at all. In this setting, it's a killer.

While the Compadre with 8" coil gets about 8" on our Euro coins, the ETP with 8" concentric it gets 9.5, and with the 11DD, 10.5".

The detech Ultimate doesn't add much in the depth department, but the coverage is very good.

I think the Compadre you have is good for 90+% of all good coin finds you expect, but it has the edge on tiny (=smaller than small) gold jewelry.

So Either get you a 5.75" Compadre for the small jewelry if you're after gold, or get a Cibola/Vaquero if you want to hit the deeper coins.

The ETP has some interesting features, but wouldn't be lightyears ahead of your Compadre, except if you want to try out a digital unit.

Think Joel from Winnipeg had both if you can get him to chime in.

Bill is on the right path in my mind Bkkd, you already have a sweet little machine that is known for busting big dog machines when it comes to gold ( small gold especially ) its simple and super user friendly and I watched a you tube video last night ( sorry don't recall the posters name now) and he had a test board called the "Board of Pain" lol. The reset on the Compadre was impressive.

Now all that being said, My thinking is a ground balance model ( they all have the changeable coil option ) and let the loaner or back up be the Compadre, Sounds like you know the machine and where you have your best results with her. A nice used Vaquero can be had for.... What was the last one priced for in the classifieds boys? $250?

If I wasn't itching so bad to get my F75 upgraded I would have probably jumped on that, since my only ground balance Tesoro is a Stingray ( older underwater machine that isn't anywhere near Compadre light) , So I think I could have benefited from adding that to my tool set of machines.

I have no experience with the Eurotek pro, but that is my thought on your situation, and the path I would choose to go. Then at a later date add the eurotek if you want to give it a try.

Have a safe new years guys,

I think that video was this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqLS-JHz_b0. I bought a Outlaw from Larry at Big valley detectors and he is a great guy. I also made this video and the Compadre does quite well there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t6DTOKA8hM

The Compadre is a great machine, better than it's low price suggests, but the ETP is an entirely different level of detector. Change-able coils, iron audio, depth, versatility in general, multi tones, ETP wins on these counts. I would compare maybe a Silver Umax to the EuroTek, not a Compadre (as far as performance).
