Compadre "snap" hunting.....

This is my fun, new way of hunting with the Compadre in oft hunted sites. I mean, when you think about it, anything that's been dropped at these sites is only gonna be shallow.So I set the disc right at the end of "iron" so the little pieces of foil will break up with a faster paced sweep and the deeper targets will kinda skip and just dig the "snap"signals. All you have to do is pass a coin quickly under the coil and you'll know what a "snap" is. The discrimination is so pure on the Compadre as compared to say the Silver umax that you won't miss many items-even a small valuable target gives a quick snap. I tested it out first on another site and checked all signals and , at least there, I was familiar enough with the Compadre I was right every time. Of course, I still dug tabs, large trash.

That is interesting. I have a few places that are used very heavy. I will give this a try. There is not to much trash. I have hunted it a lot. So, I already got most of the junk. You always get some junk from the new croud. Thanks... KEN.Ind.

Have been hunting the same way with my F75 by turning the sensitivity down to zero.

Have been putting a lot of thought into getting a Compare or maybe a Silver because of the sensitivity control.

Thanks for the info slingshot. I will have to try that out on one of my short hunts. On longer hunts I will still plan to dig all targets. I like to see what i am dealing with and it slows me down, so I do not miss some of good targets.

I absolutely love Snap Hunting! This is a skill and method overlooked by just about everyone...ere'body wants to creep along looking for deep oldies, taking their time to re-sweep a deep ping and think about it, they ALL ignore the shallow hits!:....but a 'snap hunter' can really pull some shallow gold/silver loot in a modern park or sportsfield in a gosh darn hurry!

Not only that, but a fellow can easily pull 200 targets of a morning Snap Hunting which compresses the learning curve on signals and targets...so a guy can get twice as good, twice as fast as a fellow who never Snap Hunts!

Snap Hunting is a subset skill within this Sport that a person should get to know and be good at...When you get really good at Snap Hunting, all the rest is gravy!

After using it and trying to find every mysterious target, it dawned on me that I had learned enough about the Comadre's responses and wasted enough time confirming what I thought the target was to just having fun and trusting -but only in oft hunted sites.

Well, they'll be on the far end of the disc level-probably won't even disc out. You'd be losing lots of targets and, to me, fiddling with the disc knob is a colossal waste of time. I wouldn't set it any further than discing out foil and you can pinpoint and retrieve a target in no time.
