Compadre Question

(Hypotheticaly) If a person had a Compadre that could change coils. And if this person used a CleanSweep coil on it. How well do you think this combo work on coins and gold?

The Tesoro Compadre, as like most other makes and models sold that are factory-preset designs, are often (not always) processed to the point of shipping so that they are tuned and functional (calibrated) with the search coil they are shipped with. Having used almost every Tesoro model, since 1981, and evaluating a wide assortment of search coils that are supposed to work with them. I can only guarantee peak operation with an appropriate coil for a particular model IF, and only if, the model features an external Threshold and/or manual Ground Balance control.

Why? Because all too often an accessory search coil will not be a proper match for the model, and without a properly set and functional Ground Balance, I have often encountered falsing and poor performance.

Hypothetically I would say that the Compadre ... if also properly tuned for that specific coil ... might work reasonably fair. I would also note that the low-end Compadre is snot the deepest seeking or more powerful model they make, and since the CleanSweep coil is not known for good depth in the first place, the Compadre/CleanSweep set-up is only going to do 'fair' for general coin hunting in lower-trash sites.

I'll add my opinions on the ergonomics of the clean sweep coil:
It is heavy enough that it makes the very light weight detectors nose heavy and gives them an awkward feel to the swing.

I like the cleansweep on the Tejon for larger tot lots or for sport fields.
