I am so confused on what detector to choose. Im mainly looking for coins and am having trouble choosing between the tesoro compadre and the fisher f2. I am a complete beginner in the field. Also, why is it that no one seems to recommended any of the bounty hunter models? Thanks!
I'm very fond of Tesoro-And the Compadre is a giant killer that loves gold. If it is just coins you are after-not that silly yellow metal then the F2 may be better.
I'd get the Compadre 1st & then if you need a notch/target ID machine you can sell the Gold you find for a mid price unit with better features.
But it does take time to learn the Tesoro language. Where the F2 has simpler features better suited to casual coin hunting. The Compadre will have you digging every little scrap of foil/ can slaw what have you if you set the discrimination low.Or you can crank up the disc & loose possible gold & just surf for coins(no nickles as they are in the gold range).
F2 has great target separation and handles even bad dirt fairly well. Found me hundreds and hundreds of coins. Just wish it had a volume control lol You may want to check out prices on the Teknetics Delta though. Looks like a good machine as well.
If you want target ID and ease of operation, stick to the F2 or you could get the Teknetics Alpha. Both machines are alot better for the beginer than the Ace 250, which is WAY over rated in by opinion...........MO
