compadre on saltwater beach

NFG

New member
HI guys,
I'm getting a compadre for my son to get started on this hobby with me. I'm new to it also, and have a whites GMT. We're going to the sarasota area in a couple days and wonder if anyone has any tips on saltwater beach hunting, or if it can even be done with the compadre. When we get back, I know of some freshwater beaches we can go to after the thaw, but... It looks like I may have to leave the GMT at home this trip.

Thanks,
Greg

I haven't used the Compadre on a beach. I have used the Cibola. Should work fine in dry sand areas. In the wet sand, may false a lot. With the Cibola I could detect wet salt sand by turning the sensitivity down and would loose depth in the wet sand but found things. The Compadre doesn't let you turn the sensitivity down.

Try it and if it doesn't act well over the wet sand, just keep to the dry sand and have fun.
