Compadre Mods

Has anyone tried adding a external sensitvity and ground balance control t their Compadre? If so, How difficult was it and how does it perform now? Seems like I read on here where someone had put a ceansweep on their Compadre and then opened the control box and maxed the sensitivity and balanced it to the new coil. I was thinking of putting a coil connector on my compadre and trying the cleansweep. Then thought, why not move the sensitivity and GB outside the box too. Anybody?

Well I have done the mod to be able to change coils on it and adjusted the sens up to near max and backed down just when it started chattering but did not see the need to ad the knob .Did not mess with the ground Balance as my ground is not mineralized too bad You can get the parts through Switchcraft.com

I have been wanting to do the same mod myself..Maybe someone will chime in on this...............

I think you will find that this pic of a super compadre is a joke Somewhere I saw this posted a lot earlier just for the life of me cant remember where

Why do you say its a joke? couldn't it be done?
I thought the board inside was like the u max and others
Also do you think you would get alot more depth with GB a machine...
I know soils are different from different areas,,
Just seems like a easy mod and would greatly be helpful?

I meant I think someone photo shopped it oh And yes I am sure it could be done. not saying it cant and yes adjustable ground balance is a good feature three of my detectors have it and I use it . I guess I should have been more clear. But I also would like to understand why you would want to go to all that just get a Cibola or a Vaquero

Or is it the ED180 that you are after in the compadre ? over the ed120 the only reason I modified mine to change cols was to allow me to get a tad more depth with a larger coil as well as cover more ground

Sorry I am all new to detecting...Long story short.I bought my wife a F2 Fisher she didnt like it.said it gave too many false signals,So then I bought her a sniper coil for it (5) minutes she hated it,,We had bought a HF cheap detector and she liked it...
So I said ok,.I know what to get her...Found a used one or better yet a new one on criagslst a guy bought for his son
used maybe 2 hours he said..He had the dang rubber washers on the outside of the stem.lol
After getting the compadre she loves it...I was just wanting one (used) to tinker with and have a ground balance and sens.knobs and possibly a pin pinpoint button that it acually dont need..to compare. to hers....I bought a ATP but am liking the (I call them) beep and dig detector..
Waiting to see what new machines they do come out with?
I guess I just like to be different..I thought it would be nice to have a cheap detector with those features....
So the one have had the small coil on it?Do you think adjusting the Sens setting helped the detector any?
I have the site that shows the modded toseros but wasnt sure if I could post it here or not?
thanks
