Compadre hits a tiny token

This is a tiny token much smaller than a dime. Got a solid signal with the Compadre set just before the 5 cent mark on the dial. Dug the plug and could not find the target it was so little. Kept digging up dirt with my fingers and got down almost 8 inches when the signal shifted to my soil mat. After sifting carefully this tiny thing was in my fingers. Never seen one before, it's likely from the early 1900s.

That's a really cool find. A Garrett ProPointer and a Compadre make a perfect match. Both can find tiny stuff.

thats really nice , compadre likes the little things

Yes, in researching it a bit find that it's a Jacksonville Florida trolley token from the early part of the 20Th century. The "traction" nomenclature is what they called similar firms of the day. I found references on line to other communities with same thing. The value of such a piece varies from $2.50 to $7.00.

Small finds, especially with that kinda detail are special:thumbup:

A very cool find . Like the Tabman said a Pro pointer is a good thing . I never go detecting without one . Trying to find little targets in the plugs without one can use up a lot of your detecting time .

I think it is a transportation token, most likely an old bus token from the 30'era or there abouts. I found one about like it from the Portand, Or. area. Mine says Portland Traction Co.
Does yours say "Good for one Fare" on the other side ?? I was told mine was an old bus token. Really nice find, is a nice looking token.

Nice find and in great shape as well. That is the type of stuff I love to find, odd, unusual, but really neat. Not sure why but the Compadre really hits on the small deep stuff. I found what looks like a button but is about 3/4 the size of a dime, about 1/32' thick, made of brass, 4 holes spaced like a button, about 6" down. If it is out there the Compadre will find it. WTG and HH.
