Compadre finds silver today

[attachment 243946 IMG_5108640x427.jpg][attachment 243945 IMG_5104640x427.jpg]I decided to hunt somewhere I have not been to in a while. It paid off. I found my first silver ring for this park today. Up to this hunt I have only found 2 rings in this park, but all were junk rings. Today the Compadre came through for me again. I got a really strong signal on a target and dug down to find this very unique sterling silver ring. It is small but was a great victory for me as it is my first keeper ring in this park. I also found a toy metal gun, but I did not want to worry anyone by putting it in the title that I found a gun in the park. Today I also dug 7 nickels in this same park. I love digging nickels it means that even though this park has been hunted by myself and others there are many good targets still in the ground. I have two questions after todays hunt. How soon after you dig a ring, do you look at the inside for markings? For me it is instant these days, dig, look, smile, put it somewhere safe and when I get home, put it somewhere safe. The question is "Is a place ever really hunted out?" I don;t think so. I think new detectors, new coils, more patience and less discrimination will always yield more targets. Mostly patience and learning your detector. It was nice to pull a keeper out of the ground today. The Compadre keeps delivering the silver jewelry and good finds as well as many smiles and amazement at what it can do. HH

Nice!
Wait till you come across some gold on the Compadre.
On Tesoro's, as you might know, man they sound good, and not quite like most other signals.
A nice solid, clear, long tone and with a sharp end like a coin, but not quite so sharp.
There is a difference.
Just a beautiful sound.

Post that next, please.

Revier,
You are right about the sound of gold with the Compadre. I found my 1st gold with the Compadre back in December of last year. It yelled dig and I did. It was when I first started digging on the o in iron that I found it. What an amazing detector. What settings on your Compadre or other Tesoros do you use when you find large gold, like say a class ring or a men's band. Will I find them set at mid foil range? I know small gold is lost if you go past foil. I enjoy your pics and posts. Thank you for showing what the Compadre can do.

I can tell you large men's class rings are zinc signals and act exactly like a zincoln...but sound better.
I have several other gold rings laying around, I will test them a little later with the Compadre and the Vaq and post the results here.

Nice going.

Yep, there are plenty of gold rings hiding in the foil range.

Non-scientific air test.

This was in my home and a little EMI was popping up from time to time but this will give you an idea on gold.
I compared the Vaquero to the Compadre because a few of us have both.
Last pick will give you an idea of thickness of each item.

All readings are at the highest point of a solid beep before it starts to break up.

The smallest pieces will usually be somewhere around iron, so to have a shot at those, (and chains of all kinds), don't go too much higher than the i in iron

Very nice REVIER! Thanks for that. That one post with pictures should be made a sticky!

Revier,
Thank you for taking the time to do such an informative test. Your finds prove that you know what your doing. Thank you for sharing this information with the rest of us. I remember when you posted those class rings the first time. They look nice. Still looking for my 1st class ring, but enjoying the finds along the way. Just wondering if you have found many silver coins with the vaq. I have thought about getting one, but bought the Bandido II Umax instead. I can't wait for it to get here. I plan to own a vaq someday. Thanks again.

A few dimes, but finding tons of old silver is one thing I am not real good at because I don't do that much or hunt many sites where old silver can be found.
That should change in the future as I do more research and find older sites to hunt.
Gold is what gets me going and jewelry can be found almost everywhere so I have concentrated on that since I started.

The Bandido is a great detector, I have heard, and you should do well with it.
From what I have read, they based the new Outlaw on the best features of the Bandido.
