My Compadre never ceases to amaze me and never disappoints. I think that if we keep posting our finds too many people will realize what a good detector the Compadre is and go out and buy one. Excellent marketing for Tesoro ( I wish them all the best, they deserve it), but heavier competition for us if more people just knew how good this detector really is. This easy to use, but powerful detector found my 1st war nickel on a night hunt ( a 1945 S), I knew I had found something amazing when it shone back at me in the flashlights glow. It found me a 1958 Rosie and now my first buffalo nickel, a 1935 D.The Buffalo nickel and the Rosie were found in the last week of June and today. So to keep the story short. I had 3 hours to hunt before work today. I picked out a spot I like to hunt quite a bit. I was about 2 hours into my hunt when I got a really strong signal. I dug around a bit, and finally with the help of my pin pointer located the culprit. I popped what I thought was a quarter or nickel out of the ground with my screwdriver and was staring at the Indian on the front of the coin. Needless to say I got just a little bit excited, okay so I got a lot excited. Then I noticed the full date and what even added more to my surprise was when I flipped it over and the D was there as plain as day underneath the 5 cents. Just a little ways from the nickel, I get a good signal again. This target turned out to be a ring. I have found this type of ring before, so I already knew it was silver, curiosity got the best of me though. I flipped it over and looked inside. Sure enough .925 was stamped on the inside. This hunt was going to well to call it quits. To bad I am a responsible person, but those who are truly addicted to this fantastic hobby has to ask themselves at some point, whether it would be possible to get sick enough in 30 minutes to require them to call in, I am only joking and very grateful to have employment, So at the end of this amazing hunt I am thinking of all things that I did not find a quarter for the day. What a complainer. After I thought about it, I realized what an idiot I was being, finding all these great things in one hunt. I did find my quarter in the last 15 minutes. Great hunt overall, lots of pennies, some dimes, and a few nickels. Sorry I rambled on, but I felt it was worth telling. I hope you enjoy the pictures and find some oldies under your coils, just not in the same places I like to hunt. HH [attachment 238743 IMG_4921640x479.jpg [attachment 238745 IMG_4920640x421.jpg

Thumbs up!!!

Gosh-- a date and a mint mark? Buff dates almost went extinct with the Buffalo. i have a handfull with one just barely a date on it.

Thanks for all your comments and feedback. It was a memorable moment. Not one I will soon forget. It is my 1st buffalo nickel I have found. I hope to find more in the future that look as nice, but it may be a one in a lifetime find. I am just glad I did not scratch it with the screwdriver popping it out of the ground. Now that I think about it more I realize I might have to dig a little more carefully, I guess I dig with a screwdriver, because I do not think of the Compadre as going deep enough to find the old coins, but I have found some old coins with it recently. The area where I hunted had seen construction a while ago and may have turned this nickel up during the excavating. I will know if I find more old coins that this is the case. HH
