Compadre Finds 1945 S War Nickel

It is Kind of hard to beat Revier's 14K gold chain find. Last night I found one of my best finds ever. I have found Gold and silver Jewelry, but never a war nickel. I found it with my favorite detector, the Compadre. It is my favorite now because it is the only Tesoro I own. I hope to change that soon. When I pulled this out of the ground I was very excited. You can tell silver from any coin the minute you see it in the hole or as soon as you pull it out. It looks the same as the day it was lost. I was hunting at an older elementary school with the knob set just after the L in foil on my Compadre and got a signal right up next to the trunk on an old tree. I started digging and using my Vibra Probe pinpointer and was getting a strong signal and dug a nickel. When I shined a light on it the date wss clear as ever, 1945. I am amazed at all the great things my Compadre has found and that it only cost me $160 for this awesome detector. I know Tesoro has a reputation for quality and reasonable prices and nothing should be a suprise as to what this detector can find. My Compadre had me grinning ear to ear last night when I dug that war nickel out. Thanks again Tesoro, you have a life long customer. My camera I used to take a picture is too high of quality so the file is to large to post. I will try to take another picture later with a different camera and post a picture. Good luck and HH.

I have good results by taking a hi res pic from far back, then crop it in paint (Windows7) to fit the file size.

What do you mean...you just did.

I have never found a war nickel, so you are one up on me in that area.

CongratZ!

So I finally had a chance to figure out how to add a good picture to my messages. I appreciate all of the good info. from those who responded to my message on how to do this. Thanks especially Revier. I have been out of town this weekened visiting family. I was able to go on a 3 hour hunt with my dad and brother. Our first park was a bust. We searched there for 1 hour and dug garbage and a few zincs. Then moved on to a school. I ended the night finding $2.30. Not a big success. I have found it is not about what you find on a hunt, but the fun you have on the hunt. We had some laughs about our finds and some jokes during the hunt. I am glad some of my family enjoys detecting, it is fun to have people to hunt with. Here are a couple of pictures of my 1945 S war nickel. I hope to find many more in the future. Good luck and HH.[attachment 226851 1945swarnickelcloseupobverse.JPG][attachment 226852 1945swarnickelreversecleaned.JPG]
