Compadre detecting depth

I turned up the internal sensitivity pot and was getting 7" on a colonial button with a smooth diggable tone. Coins hit hard at 5".... This was with the 8" coil. I had the smaller 5 3/4 coil and I was impressed with the depth of that coil. Now with the internal sensitivity set at the factor preset I was getting an inch to almost two inches less depth ! On both coils.
