Compadre comes through again.

Got out this morning for an hour hunt with the new Compadre. Lot of the usual trash, a bit of clad, and one nice keeper. I don't do any relic hunting but I'll take any keepers that I come across. I was hunting a baseball infield when I came across a nice signal that discriminated out at 3:00 position and seems to be a 3 inch coin sized target. I thought, O.K., another 3 inch penny. What a surprise when I pulled out this nice badge at 6 inches. Did a bit of research since I don't know much about badges and it turns out to be a WW2 artillery gunner's hat pin. Thoes of you who have more knowledge of these finds are welcome to share your thoughs. Thanks for looking. HH, Rob.

That's a nice find that will even look nicer in a display case! They say for the most part that finds are generally made from the surface down to about 6" depth. The Compadre covers that range well with it's quieter circuitry coupled with ED-180 discrimination...especially in the trashy areas where most of the goodies are found:detecting:

Yup, I'm really loving this Compadre. I havn't used my Ace 250 since I got the Compadre.
Same happened with me when I first started.
Sold off my ace 350 soon after from feeling bad from it just sitting there.
Happy hunting with the Compadre!! Great machine. Especially for the cost

Thats a really nice find and in remarkable condition as well, one of the things we find while detecting farmland here in the UK is that some fields just have 100s and 100s of WW2 buttons and cap badges, this is mainly due too after the war the government must of had millions of uniforms left over either damaged or even in good condition, but what do you do with them all after a war is over ?? not alot really so they basically gave them to farmers/landowner to put on the land and rot down as fertilizer which of course was in short supply after the war,and of course as the material has rotted away over the years only the buttons and other allied items would still survive.

By putting these excess uniforms on the land to rot down we/is often called 'Shoddy',some permissions you go on and of course these buttons etc give a stunning signal as in theory they are not ultra deep,so one digs all these signals but after digging no end of these can become a right pain in the rear, not all farms are like this but when you do get them they are often seen as bad as shot gun cases.

Your find is in stunning condition, but just thought i would mention how we find them and why.

Sweet Find.....Very Nice...

Happy Hunting,
