Compadre coils....

I am buying my 10 year old son a Compadre for his birthday next month and had a question about the coils. Are these "concentric" coils? I thought I read that they are "widescan". Is "widescan" the same as the "double D" coils my minelab uses? Just wondering as I use a different pinpointing technique with my Sovereign and my son is used to that. He wants to know if he is going to have to learn a new pinpointing method with this new detector. Thanks everyone....

But concentric are much easier to pinpoint with. If he can already handle a widescan (double D) he should have no problem learning a concentric.

Thank you. I disagree on the pinpointing, but that is only because I have been using a double D coil for the past 10 years. I used a Garrett treasure ace 250 a few years ago for awhile and could not pinpoint to save my life! Anyway, as with anything, with practice it will come to me and I am sure he will be able to figure it out, being 10 years old and so excited about finding money in the ground, lol. Thanks again.....

The single worst feature on the Ace 250 is the stupid "bell tone" you get with a coin target. Its impossible to pinpoint with that feature and you MUST go to pinpoint all metal mode to do so. Not so with any Tesoro. Try one, you wont be disapointed.

Thank you Scully. I was doubting my pinpointing abilities after using that 250. You made me feel better, lol.
