Compadre and water/snow

What is the Compadre like in water. Is the coil part waterproof? Can I dunk the coil into water including the cable connector, to submerge it in say 10 inches of water?

I understand that the control housing is not. But what about when it's raining? I guess the control housing needs to be covered!?!

What's the Compadre like on wet ground, grass, or mud. Does it affect the types of signals you'll get. Or is it specifically a problem only when on wet salty sand?

What about snow? How does the Compadre work in snow or cold temps. I see that it's rated form 30* - now that's below freezing! Anyone actually metal detect in the winter? Since I am from Canada, we get 9 months of cold and only 2-3 months of warm weather. I am hoping I can metal detect in the winter months too. The only problem is retrieving things from the ground. Perhaps I could mark the spot and return in the spring!!! LOL!

I'm not one of them.... No fun freezing, Fingers, toes, ears and other parts for a few coins LOL ............. I guess it's just a matter of if you do, or don't. I know digital machines will not take the cold.

Winter months are research months for me. Old maps, Library archives, and Historical Society meetings all for leads...

All coils on the Tesoro's are WP,I hunt in the winter, I wear bright clothing during deer season,I put a hard warmer pack in my control housing cover to keep it running smooth.HHH.

I just got the Tesoro Compadre and the weather is starting to go down hill. I've heard so much good things about the Compadre. Can't wait to see what's out there. Nothing but clouds and rain lately for the past 4 days and counting.

And winter is on it's way. I can't wait 8 months to be able to try this thing out. Might as well endure the cold like usual. It's still above freezing which is good. I'm Canadian, and I'm use to it. Still hate it though. Would love the Earth to tilt a bit south.
