Compadre acting weird

I have a tech question for all of you Compadre owners out there.
I recently purchased one for the wife and as a good backup and have used it about three times. The evening I received it, later that night when the temps had cooled down significantly and last morning. The last two times was right after a light rain and there was tremendous moisture in the air and upon startup the machine would Ch-Ch-Cha-Chaaaader like something crazy, getting better as you went up the scale with the knob, almost non existent when turned all the way up. It does this regardless if you hold the unit to the ground swinging or up in the air. The crazy thing is...... It stops after a few minutes (maybe five or so) and is normal. Any ideas? Is the humidity effecting the circuitry? Is the unit factory set too hot? What y'all think?
Thanks in advance.

This has only happened to me a couple of times but when it did heavy EMI was the cause.
There are some sites where EMI can be heavy all the time or might even come and go so try a different site.

No amount of moisture in the ground or humidity in the air or even a light rain has ever affected my Compadre even once.

I gave up on checking my detectors any where close to the house because of emi.

I have two local parks that ihave nasty emi or wireless interference.

I just turn the vol down, still picks up fine when you go over target

i think you guys are right/spot on. i went out in the area where this happened and sure enough, it happens to be where the power enters the house. i was having a blonde moment for the day. :lmfao:

thanks guys. <Spider

 Mine was do the exact same thing. I sent it in for repair and they reset the ground balance, checked sensitivity, and recalibrated my coil to low mineralization soil. It works great now!!!
