Yesterday afternoon, I was working at a soccer field with my White's M6 for 1 hour and it found $1.50 in clad and a button. Then I took my brand new Compadre with the 8" coil and found 3x the $ and more as seen in the picture. All the item's in the picture was found with my Compadre. Now I will be selling the M6 and wait for the new Caz...
Owned as used both.
When the funds free up both will be back in the lineup.
Just too much darn fun to have to choose one over the other...
Hey, if I don't eat out for a bit and save a few bucks I could have the C back in the rotation by summer!
Cheers

The Compadre rocks, for sure! But seriously, a real comparison would be going over the SAME piece of ground with both detectors and see what finds what. How can you possibly compare the 2 when you hunted in different spots with the M6? HH

In your original post, it sounded like you took the Compadre and went over the same ground as the M6 and made the finds. Take the Compadre and go back over the place that you took the M6 or take the M6 over where you have detected with the Compadre. That will give you a better comparison of the two detectors.
What coil was on the M6? Stick a 8x6 S.E.F. on it and it will surprise you.

It has everything to do with discrimination. Where did you have the disc knobs on both machines? Where did you have the sens knob on the M6? M6 tracking locked? To actually compare the two you need to use something like a nail and adjust the disc on both machines to just reject it. Then mark targets with one machine and try the other machine over it at the same exact angle. Then to be absolutely fair you need the M6 in single tone and dig every beep as if it had no Target ID. I'm no knocking either machine as I've has 2 Compadre's and 4 M6's. Both great machines.
Gee,ive been a whites guy for years, I got a compardre and thats all i use now, i set my mxt up to operate the same way but the the freqs are different, in a couple of weeks the compardre will have paid for itself
He wasn't doing comparison s.... Merely stating the Compadre founds heaps more than the the other unit. Probably due to the fact he enjoyed using the little machine.

Hotdawg, if I were making the decision to keep one or both detectors, I wouldn't get rid of a detector based on the comparison you experienced. You can't make a fair judgement of the abilities of two very different detectors by using them in different areas with, possibly, different set-ups and coils, etc. Then say one is more capable than the other. They all will detect metal in the ground.
What is important to remember is that we all have our favorite detector for one reason or the other. We get it dialed in for our style of hunting and feel comfortable as well as confident using it.
Use what works best for you and your style of hunting.
