Commercial Airlines transport

all iron

Member
I plan on taking my AT Pro to Florida but don't want to check it and bury it with the other 10,000 lbs of suitcases.
Anybody ever carry one on?
I defintley will call the airline before i show up, was just wondering if anyone else had any experices

I've traveled with mine by plane and cruise ship. I take the head off and put it in my carry on however. If the coil is small I put it in that too but if it's the large one I put it in the checked bags along with the handle parts. Ear phones go in carry on too. In other words, the expensive stuff goes with me. Never even had the carry on opened for inspection either.

I have carried on the unit (removed from handle), coils and handle broke down, several times in and out of the country. I've never been questioned by TSA only other passengers.

Regardless of carry on or checked luggage I advise that, if you remove the coil from the shaft, you put the bolt and nut back on the coil. I checked my bag packed tight with dis-assembled AT Pro, sand scoop and clothing without putting the bolt through the mounting ears of the coil and the coil arrived with a broken ear. I'm certain the bold with nut attached would support the ears or better yet leave the lower shaft attached to the coil.
