My hunting buddy and I hit a new colonial homesite in Virginia that we recently received permission to hunt. This home site dates to 1705. We thought we would find alot of civil war stuff, as both sdies frequented this area during the civil war.

I had the best coin date ever and recovered the following with my NEW Fisher F-75 LTD. yesterday, and recovered the following:

1 1857 flying Eagle penny (first for me)
1 1846 Coronet Large Cent
1 1795 Cap Bust Large Cent (my first breaking the 1700 barrier)
1 1911 Barber Dime in Extra Fine Condition
1 1938 Mercury Dime
1 Flat button
1 Zouve round button

I've taken another pic of the Liberty Head Cent close up, you can clearly see the faint 793 ofr 795. I think it is a 1795, but the last number I am not sure and looks like a 3 in the pic. Any experts out there welcomed to chime in....

That style large cent began in 1796, but 1798 was a common year and I suspect it is that.

Great find nonetheless.

Wayne, fantastic! several of those would be a first for me, great site to put forth those all. way to go. CO

Thanks, after further cleaning, it is actualy a Bust draped LC, and the last numearl know looks more like an 8 which I now believe my LC is a 1798, still pretty cool and my oldest coin to date! HH
