It has been so warm that the ground is not frozen in the woods so I took advantage of it this weekend.
I hit the same cellar hole area that I hit a few weeks ago where the LC came out. This time I decided to prove that people inhabited an area a little lower down the hill inside a stone walled area. I got lucky and hit a few buttons near the cellar hole. Not sure what the oval one is all about. It seems heavy duty and may not be all that old as far as colonial goes. The other small one looks almost like pewter or a shiny kind of material.
But, farther down the hill inside a stone walled area I found a colonial shoe buckle about 10 inches below the surface. It even has some of the original design running down the sides of it. I put a picture of it as well as the reference picture from the Revolutionary War Encyclopedia that I have. This one dates circa 1750-77 according to the book. Looks like an old site for sure.
