We went back to a field that we had detected at last fall with good results. Today we walked away with another great handful of finds . We both found many buttons dating from the late 1700 to early 1800s . Todd found a nice buckle and a draped bust large cent and a couple more coronet head large cents. Some of his buttons had some nice detail on them also.

I found a Connecticut copper and 3 other large cents one is 1814 and the other 1843 , two thimbles and a New York militia Excelsior button that dates from about 1792 to 1820 or so.

amazingly the ground was still frozen in some places. We can't wait for the farmer to turn the field over to bring some new things to the surface

Another enjoyable gallery of finds. I've obtained about 65 acres of early 1800s farm fields I can't wait to try.

That's great! Do you know if there used to be a house on the site?

Yes, the house is still there. The owner told me when he was a kid his father showed him the year of 1882 carved in one of the beams in the still standing barn.

very good! Can't wait to see what you find there.

Very good! I have a couple 100+ acre farms I detect. I have wandered all over them and you never know where you may come across an interesting artifact far away from the home site. Obviously diminishing returns for the most part as you get further and further away from the homesite but, it's always nice to be out there.

OUTSTANDING FINDS:clapping:

You Are Making Me Want To Get Out In The Fields And We Are Planning A Trip This weekend!

But These Are Amazing Finds And We Would Be Thrilled With Any Of Them Or Just a Few

Major Congrats

Awesome finds! I struck out on my first outing, only got a clay marble in a hole, rest was all junk and iron. Need to find a new site soon.
