Colonial Button From The Shore

I got out to the beach yesterday and dug jewelry galore...ALL JUNK! I was surprised to find this beautiful colonial period cuff button!

Wow Neil that is in great shape for being so old. Nice find!

At first I was convinced it had to be modern. I have found thousands of buttons, and none even come close as far as condition!

that baby is well built, nice find

it certain looks like its a type of flat button.....i know expert and only know from the buttons ive dug as well...60% of my brain tells me thats an old button while 40% isnt quite sure...... of course if it is as old as we think it is it kinda makes you wonder what else could be found in that area....

I looked at the welds and the loop of the shank, and I am now convinced it is late 18th/early 19th century.

Well maybe this is more of an indication. It was dug by my buddy last night. We are hitting it again today!

nice button and coin! Work that site well as it looks like there is more to come out of this spot - Jim

Unfortunately the beach was sanded in today. Not even much pocket change floating around! One thing about beaches, though. They look different on every outing!
