Colonial Buckle ? ? & Military Band Button

Went on a trip to NY and got some detecting in (full trip report here: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,1073953 ) and found this buckle at a town square that started in the 1790's that I believe may be Colonial era:

It was silver plated, and had a simple design of lines on the front (that may not be apparent in the photo). Apparently it was hand made, on the photo of the rear, file marks are visible on the upper left . It also doesn't appear to have been plated on the back, only the front.

What do you Colonial experts think?

At another park I found this button:

I pulled out this old button at a good depth, at least 7" deep. It's marked * J.H. Wilson * Philadelphia and has a harp on the once gold gilted front. J.H. Wilson was in business from 1873-1904 and apparently made both military as well as civilian buttons.

Anyone have any ideas what this button is from? Military band perhaps?

Thanks and HH,
Brian

Brian, check this out. There was no picture shown in this listing on line, but not all items where pictured , maybe you could, do a little more diggin on line or go to the museum site for a pic. Wonder if it could be related:

Bummer they don't show a photo, but I think you're on to something.

Thanks for the info, that's good to know. I'm looking forward to going back to NY again, there's lots of places left to hunt
