Live in northern WI, haven't been out since Oct. Looking for info on trapping gloves, can anyone recommend a brand? Model? Where to purchase? Thanks, Tom.

Try these

Thank you for the information. I am in the same region and wondered what type glove. What type of waders would you recommend?

The pair of Polar Paws I ordered a few months ago were less satisfactory than the pair I bought before that.

They leaked the first time I used them.

As of this moment I have found it necessary to re-enforce the attaching point where the elastic strap is fastened to the top of the sleeve, the seams where the gloves attach to the sleeve, and the seams that run up the length of the sleeve. (This seam opened up on one of the gauntlets!)

Where the gloves were molded there are weak areas along the outside between the wrist and tip of the little finger and from the thumb and pointer fingers on both gloves! I have had several leaks at all these locations and have patched them with an application of Loctite Fabric Glue inside and out.

I have used this same glue to re-enforce all seams inside and out.

The glove material stays flexible in cold weather and in spite of having to make frequent repairs these are my preferred gloves!

In all fairness to Polar Paws I am asking them to do a difficult job they weren'tdesigned to do, but the poor quality in workmanship isn't appreciated.

I buy them over-sized (Perhaps they only have one size?) and use a pair of wool GI glove liners inside. (If they are too thick they may not fit in the glove.)

They get wet inside from perspiration and must be dried out with a forced air blower after use to keep the lining from getting rotten.

I hope you find this info useful and should you have any questions you may PM me any time,

CJ

Thanks for all the comments and information, I haven't bought a pair yet, I love this forum it sure saves a lot of trial and error!

One fact regarding any such gauntlet is that they will leak and need to be repaired.

I have used a variety of them and they have all leaked after a while due to the rough use they get.

The glue is available at Lowe's and I usually buy several tubes as they are small and it is useful for all sorts of repairs.

When I got the new gloves I ran a re-enforcing bead to the place where the strap is attached to the sleeves soaking it in.

The strap had two flimsy stitches that will tear out in a short time of use. (From experience.)

I just repaired a small pin-hole in my left sleeve this AM and a leak where the glove and sleeve join on the right gauntlet too.

There is a tendency to pull on the sleeves to put on the gloves and the sleeves aren't strong enough to withstand much of that.

I slide my hands in and "work them fully into the glove" by pushing the glove up my arm rather than pulling on the sleeve.

Regards,

CJ
