Cold Tundra Coin Hunting Is Getting Challenging:devil:

The last couple of hunts have been in temperatures of 23F/-5C. There is no snow, but the ground is pretty near frozen. Here's the finds from a school. My first new US Once Cent in that style.

Youre a good man Mr John to get out in temps like that for any length of time. I really like that 5 pence coin. It's pretty classy looking. What is the vintage of that one? Actually as far as those pennys go, we don't see too many of them down here either. Doesn't seem to be a whole bunch in circulation yet. It's the tail end of a five coin special issue, with five different back designs and I heard somewhere that the shield one like you have is going to be the new permanent design The five designs all relate to Pres. Lincoln and are in celebration of his 200th birthday. Keep up the good work and Happy hunting

Good hunt in the frozen zone.
That's it for me as my hands are frozen on those outings.

I'll hunt in 95 degree weather. I'll hunt in the rain, I'll hunt in mud up to my ankles. The one thing I won't do is chisel coins out of frozen tundra. But then again, I'm not The Master.

Chris

PS Yes, I have chiseled coins out of the frozen earth. Yes next spring I'll do it again, only because I'll have cabin fever after winter. Maybe I'm a big hypocryte.
