Cold Air and Restoration

Hey everyone and I'm glad to say after a majority of not detecting last year, I am back at it although I'm about to think the North Pole is making its way into the states. I will be looking around the forums for any new information and other people's finds. As for returning back to metal detecting, this cold air is putting a bit of a damper on it and keeping me from going as often as I would be. So, in the time I have not been going due to the cold air, I decided to do some restoration on an old find I found a couple of years ago and have been to scared to touch due to its condition under the dirt that was attached to it. Yes, I got brave and cleaned it. "It" is an 1829 Half Dime that I thought was in really good condition so I previously never even wanted to touch it, rub it, and especially clean it as I figured the dirt would scratch it. Good thing is, my bravery paid off, and I cleaned it "the natural way" to have a pretty brilliant looking coin. Most of the original mint luster is there and it looks like it has not long left the Mint. I have included the before and after pictures here although the camera doesn't do it justice. Let me know what you think and maybe how you could relate to this. :)

I also included a couple of pictures of a Barber Dime I found a week ago or so. It's in nice shape too.

Thanks Roland. It took quiet a few steps, Rinse and Repeat, to get the Half Dime back to normal without doing damage. I was careful with the Barber too. I'm going out first thing in the morning right before this snow comes in. I'm hoping to find similar things. :detecting:
