coinstrike on gold

just wondering if the coinstrike is any good on gold nuggets or gold jewelry in general? if so what settings are good for detecting for gold jewelry or nuggets? thanks for your time and happy hunting.

But at 7khz, that's more ideal for high conductors......in other words, it was named "coinstrike" for good reason. I found a couple gold rings with it while coinshooting (like wedding bands). Just keep in mind they ring in really low on the ID number like foil, so you might wanna run a couple rings under the coil to see......

I ran some very small placer gold over the coil of my Coinstrike and it did a good job of picking up the target, so this unit will hit on natural gold, that was a suprise!!!!

Prospector...what setting did you have iron discrim on ? I suppose less than 99 or where you running it in all metal ?

John

It hit in all metal and disc, but all metal worked the best of course. Also I tried the discrim at 0 , 50 and 99 and it worked in all settings, there is no iron in my placer Gold, and I tested my 10k gold ring it really hit hard on the ring. Like I said in some of my previous posts this is a very good detector, I am also an Electronics Technician and I have worked with and repaired Industrial and consumer metal detectors down to component level.I have been a Tech since 1984.
Happy hunting:beers::fisher:
