Yesterday I braved the cold and hunted a park picnic area that almost always produces a silver coin or two. I have a theory that to truely hunt a site, you have to be patient and hunt small areas by gridding it off and hunt it slowly and completely. Many people find this tedious and want to be on the move. To each their own I guess. I have hunted this area before, but have grazed over it quickly. The last time I was here, I found an older wheat penny just as I was leaving. Sunday, I only found 15 coins, 8 wheats and 1 merc, but I only hunted a 100 foot by 75 foot area. In my opinion, the C$ is the best detector going for this kind of hunting. One time I actually dug out three pieces of gum foil at 4 or 5 inches only to find a wheat penny two or three inches under the foil. I have had a strange thing happen twice with the C$ that I think has been mentioned before. I got some high tones with lower 20 VDI numbers. The signal jumped alot with the tones and numbers and I decided to dig it. It turned out to be a nickle. This has happened before, but not all nickles do this. I have the small coil, but the C$ does a good job with the stock coil. This might be the best all around detector going, if a person doesn't want to invest in a bunch of coils. When I do use the small coil, it works great, with impressive depth and separation, but if you get stuck somewhere without itl, the stock will do a fine job. R.L.
