Coinstrike Averaging?

I need a refresher on some things on the Coinstrike. Isn't there something about averaging if I remember correctly? And if so, how do I access this? Also, feel free to post your favorite settings for general coinshooting. Thanks.

ID Averaging is turned on-off by pressing and holding the last button on the right. Hold the button and you will see A1 (averaging ON) or A0 (averaging OFF). Continue to hold the button and it will switch from on to the other. My soil is mild so I run Sens at 9 or 10 and Threshold at 0. When I set Threshold at 1 the the constant buzz is annoying so I keep it at 0 where it is quiet. A few times in the field, after making adjustments in Memory 1 I was getting a very faint buzz at Threshold 0 and that was great. But I can't seem to get that faint buzz at other times when I adjust Memory. Anyone know how to get it.

"From Manual said:
Numeric I.D. Averaging Function.

This is activated (A1) or deactivated (A0) when the ALL/METAL/DISC button is pushed and held. When ON, the numeric I.D. will be based on cumulative average from sweep to sweep. When OFF, the numeric I.D. will be based on immediate sweep results. To determine if this function is on or off, push and hold the ALL METAL/DISC button until either A! (activated) or A0 (deactivated) is displayed. If you continue holding down the button, the display will flash twice, then switch modes.

With the I.D averaging on it takes more sweeping over the target to get an average for the I.D, off its reads I.D in a single sweep. I normally run mine off.

Another thing about the C$ is its manual, it will leave you more than lost in some parts! If you download the Fisher GoldStrike manual you'll find that it much better describes setting the Threshold than the C$ manual does!.

I have it already downloaded if you would like me to send it to you via email?

I just got the manual, thanks. I just need to find a good combination of threshold/sensitivity for my area. I always thought that you were suppose to hear a slight hum in regards to threshold but anything negative I don't hear anything. I guess the trick is to get as close to zero as possible while maintaining smooth operation.

The C$ by design is a "Silent Search" (No running tone, or sound) detector, but yes! if you go above zero into the plus numbers it would have a running audio tone. (I run mine silent with the threshold at -5 to 0)

For the best sensitivity and threshold settings for a certain area a couple of things would need to be considered,
first interference. If your in an area with a lot of EMI or mid-day high heat with a lot of solar interference, one or both of the settings may have to be turned down, the higher the sensitivity and the closer the threshold to zero the more sensitive the detector will be to electrical and solar interference.

Next would be depth,
Lets say your out in a soccer field just doing a clad and jewelery pick up (nothing really deep) you could run the sensitivity at a 1 or 2 and the threshold to a -30 or so and do very well, just not down much below 4" or so.
