CoinStar Kickbacks..Cladstabber Conundrum...

Prolific cladstabbers generally get some kickbacks from the Coinstar machine, no matter what a guy does, lemon juice, sanding, dont matter, the Coinstar will not read or accept certain tarnished coins even after multiple tumblings, no worries though!

Most all vending machines and tool booths accept these Coinstar kickbacks...Vending machines, just pop them in as if you are buying an item, and push the 'coin return' button...for some reason, the machine spits out perfectly shiny and spendable clad!

There was an interesting youtube video about this a few years back I watched, I wish I could remember who posted it to give full credit, 'cause it works! Prolific clad stabbers will appreciate this little trick..it all adds up! Trick is not using the same vending machine over and over...the guy tending it starts putting YOUR dirty clad in the coin return hopper!

When I find a coin that has had an affair with a lawn mower I place it on a piece of steel and tap it with a hammer until it returns to near original shape. Then I get some weird looks at local stores as I pay for my mdse with those poor coins.

I have hear there is more than one way to kill a cat without chocking it to death with butter.

Most of the time if i find modern decimal coinage i just chuck it as 'Hedge Fodder' just not worth the hassle in cleaning it up and also the very low value involved, may keep and use pound coins if they are decent, but some of the modern coinage has iron cores so these can come out the ground or beach in a very sorry state,A few local super markets do have these coin machines but only really worth it when you have collected alot of change.

We do find alot of old lead and that can make some nice money when you take it to the scrap yard, helps pay for a few gallons of petrol or beer tokens :ukflag:

I took $700 dollars worth of tumbled clad quarters and dimes to the credit union counters last year and had about 5 coins that were too mangled to run through. I save the coppers but the zincs go the Coinstar at Wal-Mart and I just leave the half corroded ones in the return to let someone think they had a lucky day. Occasionally I'll drill a hole in the center of them if I need some washers and want to save 3 cents each. :)

I thought as long as they are rinsed good all Quarters would make it through a coinstar machine? That is one reason if I clad stab I just go for the Quarters as the others don't add up fast enough.

Ha! Yes, I also flatten bent or mower hit coins with a hammer, then I even file the edges sometimes if theres a burr! I save all the really crusty zincs in a coffee can, its nearly full, I have no idea what I will do with them?...and all the tokens and foreign coins too...

Theres always a few coins that no matter what I do the coinstar will just not accept them, and they are too discolored to spend, thats why I use them in a vending machine or toll booth!

I do a fairly good job on cleaning my coins. Have coin tubes that measure, the coins to their paper rolls. Example 40 quarter's = $10 roll. I use the quarter's, rest turn into the bank. When hunting I rarely pass on any change. Keep going back to the site till it's no fun anymore. One time last year, went back to finish off a ball field. Found 10 coins only, but 5 were deep nickels, and 1 gold ring.
That was last yr, haven't found a piece of gold yet this yr. In 1500 coins.

I think I just figured out what to do with all those crusty zincolns. I'm going to fill up one of the pockets of my fairing pouch and when I get a tailgator I'll start tossing small handfuls over my shoulder. A few chips in the windshield and we'll see how close they want to follow after that.

At work I vist some sites downtown where the parking spot have parking meters. One quarter = 15 mins.
I just rub of the dust and drop them in the slot. That is where some of the ugly quarters go. There is no coin return slot for rejection........

we have coin feeders at the supermarket self serve so if they are not bent in they go, but the low amount ones I couldn't be bothered cleaning are in a big tub I can't even pick it up guess someone will inherit them and the cleaning duties one day hope its still a long way off

so yeah the bent ones get hammered and sneak them in when buying something with some good ones, had one girl spy one and say i don't want that one, i said someone gave it to me so it must be ok she wasn't buying it , so i smiled and gave her another, but the offender got spent so

really we are saving the gov mints money they should be thankful cleaning up their parks stimulating the economy and saving them money so i might put in for a bonus this Christmas i think since i have been such a good worker
