Coinstar Cowboy rides again!

Got up, read the Forums...started looking at the stacks of discolored clad that came out of my coin trommel from yesterdays work and from a few of the water hunts...I had @12 bucks of Coinstar grade discolored clad. ..I've only 2 dollars in my wallet, and Rosie has been begging for a quart of oil, (tick, tick, tick) a cursory inspection of Her dry dipstick confirmed Her request. So I needed to do a Coinstar run before work...Then I got to thinking about this one place on the way to one of my Coinstars...Its a big soccer complex, gets alot of weekend traffic, public park area, sort of new, has real deep thatch, and that 'terramat' webbing down in the sod, basically undiggable, but not unstabbable! So I figured I'd stop there and grab up a quick buck fitty to offset the Coinstar fees...trash cans were full of fresh pizza boxes, good sign...In I went with the F70 and the screwdriver for a quick broom of the place...

Hit a massive fresh 4 dollar coin spill!, that also held a N and a Q!...hit a few other multidenom spills..and another JFK Half! Successfully fought off a few yellow jackets for 3 empty cans that are worth a dime each, to be fair, it was early and they were not fully awake enough to defend their treasure, plus, one of the cans was a Budweiser, so they had been drinking all night.:buds:..got two bottles of unopened water that may come in handy someday...39 coins for 7.51 in a little over an hour..cashed in all the dirties for 14.60 and kept the cleans for general purpose over the counter purchases.....A detector is really a survival tool, with this much loot, and water, and I bet a few of those pizza boxes held some edible scraps, I dont know why I bother to work at all! Work now a days is so often a temporary and unprofitable nuisance!...especially when a guy has a hobby like this! All mine and Rosie's basic needs are met for today...why worry about tomorrow?

I love it Mud! You are beyond gone, detecting is a different drug. Funny how this addiction inter-winds in many facets of daily life.
Time for me to head out for a short couple of hours to try some different techniques & coils on my V at a tired , hammered urban park. But at the spot where the deepest coins came from there is no EMI RFI so I'm going to open her up with 12x10" SEF. Trying to get over a narrow deep signal :detecting:the trash isn't that bad in that spot. Then back to meet a guy for an estimate on the garage door replacement. I may get nada - skunked but its a beautiful day here in Southern New England.
Be well !

Speaking of COINSTAR, I have recently pulled two silver dimes out of Coinstar machines recently. A silver coin falls out in the bottom tray because it does not register properly so the machine will not count it, people do not realize some of thier coins fall into that return tray and leave them.

[size=large][size=large]Ok everyone, we need to get a collection going for MUD asap!! It really sounds like he's ready to go 'dumpster diving' anytime and that would be a crying shame!Poor guy:nopity:
P.s. I'm also a Coinstar cowboy!

Ha!

I'm just so fascinated by all the stuff people drop, forget, or discard!...A fellow who has known thirst would never leave bottles of water behind, a fellow whos known hunger would never waste food, and a fellow whos been without money, would certainly take a bit more care to avoid losing it.. I'd do just fine in a dumpster...back in that recession in the early 80's, the wife and daughter and I lived in a borrowed pop-up camper for 2yrs parked behind a good samaritans horse barn, I worked like a mule for 4.50/hr, trapped, odd jobs, etc...man, that got some serious cold in the winter!...some of our best memories though....

Mud, I take my hat off to you. No one knows another's struggle and challenges and it sounds like you've had a few and your absolutely right in your comments. Usually, it's through adversity we learn and grow and living through those times can create lasting and sometimes fond memories. Of course, I was kidding in my comments and realise there are many that struggle to get along. My Dad grew up in a coal mining town and shared many stories of his hardships and I try to be sensitive to others challenges and of course, I have some of my own.
Yes, I think we could rightfully say we as metal detectorists are in the recycling business! and this great hobby connects us to some awesome guy's of which you are one!

Right with you there Goldie! Theres some great friends on here that inspire us to awesomeness!

Oh, y'all dont have to drop the idea of a MUD relief fund, if your spirit compels you to do it, I'd say go ahead and be as generous as you feel compelled!...I'll cash the check! I might feel just a tad guilty for a short while, but after a few free beers, I'm sure I would eventually get over it. After all, money is money!:lmfao: Make the check out to "Richard DenHale" and PM me for my address...I told the wife back then, "Dont worry baby, one of these days I'll be Richard DenHale"!:lmfao:

ps, just joking of course, I'm quite content and consider myself Richard DenHale in many regards and with Friends here on the Forum!

Mud your posts are always the most enlighting whether it be on detecting, life in general, or surviving the hard times. I especially resonate with your post above:" a fellow who has known thirst would never leave unopened bottles of water behind nor would a fellow who has known hunger waste good food." I have always wondered who loses all these items, money, jewelery, etc.I have always known to the penny how much money I have on me at any given time and I've never lost but 1 item,a pocket knife while mowing the yard(3 acres), that I didn't look for until I found it. Anyway this post is not about my weirdness, but your great outlook on life. Keep up the good posts.
