Coinsearch coil, no cover...

I am lucky enough to be getting a basically mint coinsearch coil, but without the cover. I know that many were sealing their coils with truck bed paint; any other ideas? What about the spray-on rubber sealer shown on TV recently. If it will seal a boat with a screen door for a bottom, would it be good for sealing a coil?

Before spraying your coil with anything first spray a piece of cardboard with whatever you intend to spray on your coil to make sure there is nothing metallic in the spray itself. Once you have done this sweep your coil over the sprayed cardboard to make sure there is nothing that could cause any interference. If you detect nothing then you should be good to go. They now make Plastic Dip in a spray. I have'nt used it on any of my coils but have sprayed the backs on my scoops to keep them from slipping while digging and it works great. HH :minelab:

I did the bed liner spray on my SE.... but the reason i did its a durable SEF coil. I also did it because i noticed the front and back of the coil on the beach was starting to show wear in a very short time. Now.... on my Xcal i opted to stay with the coil cover. There was a few reasons for me. Number one its under warranty and didnt want any hassles, also i just dont think the coil is as durable as the SEF, and lastly.... its not as easy to just get another coil for the Xcal should something go wrong.

You might be able to get a cover by posting a want ad in the detector accessories forum.

You can buy an 8" coil cover from Whites thats goes on Prizm or Royal 800 Blue max 800 for $6.95 ( P/N# 501-4009). I put one on my 8" coinsearch coil and it fit very nice hope this helps
