This is what I've gotten so far (February '08 ) when the ground was not frozen. Aluminum and iron not shown.

The quarter and one shiny dime were with the 2200, both within an inch of the surface. The settings were DISC with an R under Iron and no bars visible in sensitivity. Almost everything was reading 8" deep, but the ground is still frozen that deep. Still getting use to it. I just got the 2200 at the end of February (used, eBay $65 shipped)

Everything (both pics) else was with the Lone Star. Most targets were 3" to 5" deep. The tones are more robust and distinct with the Lone Star. The settings were either DISC with both dials set to 1 o'clock (where the dots change color) or Auto-Notch with sensitivity at 1 o'clock (sometimes all the way CCW) and disc/notch all the way CCW. I can get closer to metal structures with the Lone Star.

Both units were used with BH headphones.

Thanks for the technical data. I have a QDII and I am still learning how to use it. I like to try others settings and see what my MD does.

The QDII and the 2200 appear to be similar in function. A 10 gram men's gold ring reads as S-CAP (screw cap) on the 2200 and to the right of the center bar under SCRAP (yes, with an R) on the Lone Star. Definitely different machines.
