Coins OR gold?

Love the AR Pro so far, but when I bench test my college class ring and my wife's gold wedding band, neither registers in the coins setting. Both fall in the range that is dropped out. Should I use the custom or just go go zero mode or is there any option I haven't thought of. Are my rings just "oddballs" or an I missing a lot of gold when I use the coin setting?

I believe you have answered your own question. If you look across the top of the face of the ATPro where it says FERROUS NON-FERROUS it will show that gold could show up from foil to low silver and anywhere in between. I too have a class ring that falls right into the pulltab region. In other words, as it has been stated on this forum many times, to find gold, you have to dig it all (especially those pulltab signals). If all the gold was pure 24 k gold it would be different. It would be kinda like hunting silver or nickels, but gold is usually an alloy, which makes it show up all over the scale. Does anyone know what the TID number is for pure gold on the ATPro?

See this chart for gold alloy composition and you will see why gold shows up all over the scale

I checked a man's 24K band (weighs 8.9 grams) with the AT GOLD and it hit 90 (sometimes a bit lower). Looking at the ATP screen, the coins icons are exactly where they hit for me on the ATG so I think the two machines will read the same.
