The oldies still produce.
So far been out a total of 12 hours with my 1980's D-tex SK50 VLF/TR detector.
It goes fairly deep in VLF mode and pennies are surprisingly loud sounding at 5".
When using reverse discrimination with this unit, there is no need to move the coil completely off the target. Just move it off to the side of target center (inner searchcoil)
by a few inches, then slowly sweep back across. There is a switch on the detector for 3 modes of operation Normal, Normal Auto (basically turns the SK-50 into a slow motion machine) and a third mode Slow Auto. For the most part I am always hunting in VLF mode (all metal) and occasionally checking in disc.mode. set at almost min......
It's fun to use the machine I haven't used since the early 80's, been enjoying myself with it.
Have a Garrett Sniper coil that will work with this unit, the 8" stock coil and a 10" D-tex coil coming in.
Can't wait to get that 10" coil as it also makes a great coin hunter.
Here's what it has found so far:
Canadian Coins:
Twoonies--5
Loonies--15
Quarters--47
Dimes--29
Nickels--24
Pennies--131
Silver ring--1
Silver O-rings--2
Keys, toy medallions
and the usual junk
Picture below is a few of the last hunts finds
