Have been wanting to check out a new beach all this year. About three hours drive from our place. Woke up at 4am and out the door at 5am. When we arrived, my first glance and thoughts were that they had closed the beach! It looked like construction of some sort was going on!! On closer inspection though it was only a lighting display they turn on each night, until later in February, and screens to reduce the sand movement in the wind over winter. I was very relieved.
Next potential problem was the first few steps in the sand and my ideas of heavier goodies weren't looking too good. Very beautiful sand but also, very, very soft sand too. In the first hour we only had three coins near the water so moved up higher and they started to flow and didn't stop. Ken was doing well on the silver, broke his coin record and got the only ring for the day too. Riki also broke his one day coin record, so we were all very happy. My wife also had a go and was happy to dig a few coins.
Baseball players trained most of the morning.
We stopped hunting just on dark (about 5pm) but waited in the car until the beach lighting went on at 6pm. Took some pics of that and played with the camera settings a bit - no flash, which gave a slight time delay, enough for me to give the camera a slight shake and produce some interested results.
We will return there in the future. After a typhoon would be the best. Or a minus tide. Must be lots and lots of jewelry and coins still waiting for a coil.
Ken
4,613 yen in coins (about US$40.10)
And above the black line.
Riki
1,335 in coins (about US$11.60)
Me
11,139 yen in coins (around US$96.80), a new record for me. (In the first pic.)
