Coins and Beer Cans

Iron Audio of and on as needed for verifying targets

The pull tabs clearly were tabs "by the numbers". The piece of Lead just south of the pull tabs came in as a Nickel. The Nickel was a surprise, first because it came as a Nickel and second, I have never seen one of the new ones. The bottle caps are still "me" not believing in the "Iron Audio" sounds of the AT Pro. The piece of steel was another one of those objects that when PinPointing looked interesting. It did not PinPoint as a coin, however it did provide a coin tone. There is a small object that looks like a tuning fork, that also indicated as a coin. It is not magnetic, and is quit shinny. And then there is a that beer can.

Yes, it came in as a coin, but PinPointing showed that this was not a coin, and was large as an aircraft carrier. PinPointing is something that has change with this detector because I have to move so much earth. I purchased the Garrett ProPointer, on a whim and it has turned out to be a very important tool. PinPointing with the AT Pro, works just fine, however I now use the GPP to refine my dig size, because for shallow target I can find them with the tip and just pop coins out, 2 or 3 inches. For the deeper targets, I use the GPP to "stop" digging when I realize, as I get down in the hole, that the thing that triggered the coin sound is as big as a sewer cap or a pipe running across my original pin point spot. The other wonderful advantage of using this tool is, in trashy areas, is the ability to check the hole quickly where I dig out a nail or a UMO, Unidentified Metal Object, [Iron] left/right/top/under a good find. The pointer has reduced my digging/find target time 20 to 30 percent. The one I have is a very good build, and is water resistant, but if I were buying one again, I would find the most powerful one. The AT Pro finds and pinpoints the target just fine ~ 6 to 10+ inches. I have dug holes that are taller than GPP had any indication of the target. I have to move 5" of dirt before I can find the target with the GPP. There may be an advantage in being able to find the object with the PinPointer during the entire dig.

Just wishful thinking.

Cheers,

Here's a trick if you don't need the digging practice.......

When it sounds just a little TOO loud......raise your coil while sweeping.......once your knee high .....and it's still busting your ears......it ain't a coin.:drinking:

[size=large]nothing works better than the Garrett pp. i don't favor brands. i favor results. there are some pi pointers out on the market but they fail the all around use test. they'll tell ya where the target is 6"-8" down. but they're bulky and don't have the all around use. if your machine tells ya your target is 8" down then dig 7 and then look for it with the pp. there's just too many positive ways the gpp shines. jmho
